Valentine's Day

To my love, I give a token, to show how much I care.
To my love, I give my heart and all my soul to bare.
To my love, I am just hoping your love you’ll want to share.

With Valentines Day coming up rather fast you can’t help wonder what to get that special someone. With talk of health and diets, it might not be so wise to offer that box of chocolate. Hmmm….I’ll will never turn away a box of chocolate, I am reading that chocolate is good for you, and we all want what is good for us.

I feel a bit guilty because it seems females do much better on this holiday then the men do, okay I don’t feel that bad. I will admit I always loves those red paper hearts surrounded by that white paper lace that we made when we where kids. Those school projects might account for my craft hobbies.

I love crafting and will try most things, some of my favorites are jewelry making along with scrap booking and I make my own embellishments. I am always amazed to see what talents are out there taking place in someone’s kitchen. The human imagination is endless when it is set free.

It is said that there is no greater gift in life then love…I disagree I think it might be compassion.

On A Cold Winter Day

On a cold winter day I went with my sister to visit the town dock. It was freezing out but I had my camera and ready to take pictures. I had never really used this camera before, my son gave it to me and unfortunately he didn’t know where the instructions were on how the camera works.

I love to take pictures and always carry a Kodak digital that fits nicely into
my purse and the only thing you have to do is press a button and the picture is taken. This camera was a new experience with more things to use to focus with and with finger tips freezing I stood on the windy dock taking pictures.

My sister was a good sport and stood out in the freezing wind with me, until she gave me that look, you know the one, where she knows you’re crazy and now she doubts

her own sanity. Anyway we both got back in the car and
looked at the camera to see if we could see how the pics came out but because it is an older digital the screen isn’t too big. I decided the only way to tell how the pictures come out was to wait till I got home.

Well I have to say I love the pictures.

My Paradise Moon Wishes Everyone a Happy Holiday

On Sunday evening I watched as the snow fell from the sky, the first snow of the season. When I awoke the next day the snow of the season deposited itself all over and caused cars to slid and slip including the plow. It was beautiful and new and even the dog found it fun to play in.

And as I get ready for the holiday I look out at

the snow, and recall so many fun things I did as a child.
I didn’t care how cold it was out; I rode my sleigh up
and down a hill of white cold snow.

I would go home and take off my wet gloves and boots and my fingers and feet burned as they thawed out. The next day I put on the gloves that dried near the stove and shoved my feet with my shoes into my goulashes

and went out again.

There are many memories in my mind as I sit here, the glass wax that my mother added color to and decorated the windows, the small round silver, green and red foil wreaths with the orange lighted candles in the middle that she put in each window.

The large colored Christmas lights that was wrapped through the branches that had so much space between them that the light radiated out of the tree which the balls and tinsel reflected the colors.

My heart is full of memories and good wishes for all to enjoy their holiday.

4 Weeks to Christmas

Now that Thanksgiving is over, this is where time seems to fly. With Christmas being less then 4 weeks away, I suggest getting any online shopping done ASAP. I worry that items that I order won’t come on time.

Most of the
shopping that I do on the handmade shops seems to get here very quickly, but with the shipping it is not always in the hands of the seller. I myself mailed things early enough to reach the destination, and somehow it vanished into limbo, causing much anxiety and panic.

Although I insure any thing that I mail, thinking this will guarantee me delivery I am always reminded there are no guarantees in life. I chew my fingernails and pace the floor until I hear it finally has arrived, and I can begin to breathe again.

As I give a sigh of relief after hearing the last of my packages were delivered and arrived intact I very quickly forget all the anxiety I had just been through as I am told they love what they received. Yes I will again go through this year after year as I pack up the last of my gifts and run off to mail them.

The Colors of Fall in Late Afternoon

I just wanted to share some of pictures I took with my little camera.

These were taken not to far away from where I live in the late afternoon. I didn't have to travel far from home to get these wonderful shots...

Babies Are Wonderful

My daughter’s friend was expecting, she chose not to know the sex of her child. It was her first child and I have to say it was exciting not to know. At barbeques the talk would be about how someone was carrying. I heard if you carry high it’s a boy and vice a versa for a girl. (I myself didn’t notice the high’s verses low carrying during my own pregnancies). Christina’s baby was delivered three weeks ago and she had a beautiful baby girl ♥.

My niece is also expecting her second child, and in her case she wanted to know, having an adorable little boy already she had her fingers crossed hoping for a girl…well she got her wish although she still has to wait a few more months.

My nephew and his wife have a delightful little boy who can bring the smile on anybody’s face; he is such a little character. Well they were expecting and were told that they were having a little girl. She finally entered the world a few days ago.

As I eagerly looked at the pictures that were posted following her birth, I first thought wow she’s beautiful! And then I felt like I knew her and I looked closely at her pictures and realized it was like looking at my sister in baby form. Oh my gosh! I thought she looks just like Rosie!

I emailed the picture to my son who is in South Carolina, not removing the address from where email came from. I asked him if he thought this baby looked like his aunt. He responded back, “It does look just like Aunt Rosie, but I don’t know who the people are. (I guess he didn’t recognize the name on the original email) I emailed him back and told him it was his cousin’s baby.

With all these babies around me, I must say it is exciting but I have to wait till April to find out what my grand child will be, I am looking forward to this. I am already a “step-grandma”, and couldn’t be more pleased.

Best Southern BBQ In The North

While riding through Connecticut, my son, his wife and my husband saw a sign that read BBQ. It was on the side of a small group of stores, and there was a dirt road that led up to the place. The name on the top was THE RIVERSIDE BBQ; we parked and walked around the property that overlooked a river.

The scenery was beautiful and the way the sun was shinning in the afternoon I wasn’t able to get good pictures of the river. It was truly beautiful in the fall and I can only imagin
e its beauty in the summer. We saw that they had lots of tables with BBQ pits, a screened in large gazebo along with a small eat in area at the food stand.

We decided to order a lot of different things off of the menu. The owner and the crew were very friendly, and as we got our food and tasted it, I saw the smile on their face as we complimented each thing we tasted. It was Soooo Good!

I told them how much I loved the food and that I had never tasted BBQ that good. They told us that they use all fresh meats and smoke them themselves, and they had actually gone to different BBQ in the south and really tried to prefect their own.

Well I have to say that they did, I love pulled pork their’s was delicious, as was the chicken which I have to say was my favorite. My husband loved the ribs and the potatoes were smothered with bacon, cheese, sour cream, and onions. All the potatoes are fresh cut right there and cooked, so where the beer battered onion rings all freshly made on site.

I never thought I’d be a food critic, but I enjoyed this place so much I just thought I would share it just in case someone out there is in that neighbor hood.
My only disappointment is that they are so far away from where I live that I will have to make plans to go back to Connecticut. For those that might pass through here is the address I actually had to look it up on line – 177 Roosevelt Dr, Seymour, CT ...................................... ..........................
